James Arthur Collins
Life Is Too Short To Be Succinct
A willfully enigmatic and meticulous soul.
Born in Toronto, Canada, directly on the strange precipice of a new millennium in 1999.
Now residing as wistfully as he can muster inside Hamilton, Ontario, he writes and gardens and sings his most well wishes to the plants he beckons to reach their fullest potential.
Most recent and notable is my book: The House of Three.
She is a shining magnolia amongst the other daisies, one that I so dutifully put out into the world for all to see. She stands there as a wonderful milestone and memento to the now long-demolished barrier to entry. A poetic whisper upon the wind for far more to come.

Borderlands 2 - The first game I ever played and the first media to ever make me love and sympathize with an antagonist. I knew from the moment I heard Handsome Jack’s sarcastic and tormented dialogue in my ear I had to write characters to inspire the next generation of players just like me.

D&D! My physical bookshelf near runneth over with R.A. Salvatore’s masterpieces, and my Steam library with virtual worlds in which I get to witness those characters come to a greater sense of life. On a weekly basis, I get the utter pleasure of creating and playing as my own creations online with a group of friends.

Even at the risk of sounding cliche, I will defend my position of adoring The Hobbit above all else. There is a magic held not only within, but around as you learn the history surrounding its creation and what then was born from it. There exists no greater love than that from your kids as they look up to you with your own or adopted eyes, and to have them stand as a muse and catalyst to one of the greatest stories ever told is a feeling I could only ever hope to brush up against.

There stands three who take this incredibly momentous podium: Christopher Tolkien, Larian Studios and CD: Projekt Red.
Christopher Tolkien, despite it being unknown which of his three children was the one to have told him to write his stories down, no child of an author could ever do as much as Christopher had. We have a boundless font of history explained and dutifully collected in several volumes, all thanks to his pure adoration for his father’s work. Larian and CD:PR stand similarly together as some of the greatest weavers of RPGs that have taken a number of hours from me I care not to admit here. Immersion and genuine joy should never be measured in mere hours but in their inspiration for the next generation of narrative designers.
My professional career began nigh on two years ago in Janurary 2021
A burst of courage and an unyeilding desire to make the games of our modern age resonate with the children of tomorrow and the players of today, pushed me towards taking a chance on an internship through Dytomic, a studio based out of Quebec, Canada.
Through many waverings and graduations of allied interns, I became so well attuned to and appreciated by the studio to have me come aboard as their Narrative Designer.
With an already strong foundation buttressed by Telefilm Canada’s grants and contributions, I now write their stories and varied characters with a fervour I hope all who read this gets to bear witness to. One story in particular soon to be in your hands.
It’s an opportunity unlike any other and has thus granted me the uncanny and many tools and devices to understand this industry better as a whole.
My name is J. Arthur Collins
My mother taught me humility and implored modesty at all times; I listened intently and will always purport the advice of loving and respecting your mother.
However, to her chagrin, dear reader, my words will not be only bound by one spine nor scrolled by on only one set of credits. They will find many in this world, for I have stories to create myself and hundreds more of yours in this industry fraught with stories that fall short of their deserved greatness.
Grant yourself that promise.
